What to read right now…

But what if you can’t afford to ever retire?
At the same time, the number of adults struggling under heavy debt has increased by two thirds since 2017. Debt charities can be an invaluable source of help, but there are things you can do too.

The deal that’s a steal…
In need of some new kitchen gear – pans, knives, chopping boards and that sort of thing? Judge* have a whole bunch of offers on at the moment.
The best one I’ve spotted is for this set of three non-stick saucepans* with lids (16/18/20cm), which is currently selling for £41, down from £125.
They’re dishwasher safe, oven safe up to 150C and suitable for all hobs, including induction.
But until 31 July, you also get a free three-piece stainless steel tool set* (soup ladle, spoon, turner) worth £15.
There are different free gifts depending on how much you spend, and delivery is free on orders over £20.
And an actual freebie…
CeraVe are currently recruiting product testers, which means you can test full-size versions of their products for free in exchange for feedback.
You can join their community here.
There are a few things to fill in before you can start applying to be a tester though.
If you only do one thing…
Join the free frequent flyer scheme of the airline you’re travelling with – even if you don’t fly that often.
Many airlines are part of a bigger network (Oneworld, Skyteam, Star Alliance) and you only need to join the scheme of one member airline to collect miles flown on any of their partners.
These points stack up, and there is often more than one way to earn points.
The British Airways* executive club will let you earn points through Uber for example, while Virgin Atlantic* flying club will let you exchange your Tesco vouchers.
The obvious way to redeem points is to spend it on flights, but it might take you years before you rack up enough for anything decent.
So many airlines will now let you spend your points on other stuff. It might not be the most rewarding way to spend it, but it’s better than letting it expire.
I recently got a GHD hairdryer using points that were going to expire, for example. And those points were collected from just one flight!
So yes, it’s well worth it.
