What to read right now…

The British ISA that was briefly floated under the Conservative government has now been scrapped.

Retail crime is being driven by criminal gangs rather than those stealing to survive.

Over 50% of women believe they’ll run out of money in retirement.

Which makes this a good time to resurface the piece on how women can plan for financial freedom.

Finally, struggling to sell your home? Some art and interesting furniture might help.

The deal that’s a steal…

Is it too early to think about Christmas? Probably.

But LookFantastic is already letting you pre-order their 2024 advent calendar*.

It’s incredibly pricey at £100, but the contents are worth £565 apparently – it does sell out every year so that’s always a good sign.

This year you’ll get 27 products, 13 of which are full-sized items.

You can see the full list and pre-order here*.

If you only do one thing…

Now might be a good time to review your mortgage.

After the Bank of England lowered the Bank Rate a couple of weeks ago, mortgage providers have been doing the same.

It means more affordable mortgage deals are finally starting to come back.

If you’re in the middle of an existing fixed rate mortgage, it might not be worth it to switch to a different provider right now as the savings are only minimal.

However, if you’re already nearing the end of your fix, it might be worth scouting around to see what’s available.

Remember, you can make a switch without penalties up to six months before your fixed rate mortgage comes to an end – obviously double check the fine print on your contract to see what applies to you.
