What to read right now…

Netflix is about to increase its subscription fee again, which means it’s a good time to resurface this piece on places to watch TV and films for free.

Or you know, you could get a Club Lloyds account and get a free Disney+ subscription in the process.

Single people pay £3,844 more a year in living expenses than those who are coupled up apparently – although this figure does include rent/mortgage.

Meanwhile, splitting your mortgage into two separate payments rather than just once a month could save you as much as £92,000 on an average house worth £511,279. But of course you need to check whether your mortgage provider allows it.

And finally, Octopus Energy has launched an investment platform for renewable energy, which sounds like an interesting proposition.

In need of a holiday?

Wowcher are currently offering a two-night city break to Krakow* for £89 per person.

It includes accommodation at the 4* Metropolo by Golden Tulip* as well as return flights from the UK – you can choose from five different departure airports.

They’ve also thrown in a tour to Auschwitz as part of the deal.

Wowcher reckons this holiday would normally cost you £125, so it’s a saving of £36 per person.

You’ve also got the option to extend your break to three or four nights for an extra fee.

And an actual freebie…

One for Londoners: Hampton Court Palace has announced their open days for 2025.

On these days you’ll be able to explore the palace gardens for free, although not the palace itself.

Still, it’s well worth it as Hampton Court Palace is home to 60 acres of formal gardens and 750 acres of parklands.

And tickets to visit Hampton Court Palace are normally quite pricey, starting from £28 for adults this year.

If you only do one thing…

If you’re a saver, it’s time to lock your money away in a high interest savings account.

The Bank of England has cut interest rates, which means high street banks will start doing the same if they haven’t already.

A regular saver or a fixed term saver will be your best bet here in terms of holding onto high rates.

I’ve got a regular saver that’s still paying 10% AER! So yes, do it now.
