What to read right now…
One in six people are turning down more money from work – whether that’s bonuses or a pay rise – because of the potential additional tax liability.

The deal that’s a steal…
What a terrible name for a retailer but Specky Four Eyes* currently have a sale on and you can get glasses for just £17 a pair.
I thought it was just for the frames but it seems you can get single vision lenses for free as part of the deal.
Having paid more than £300 for my current pair, I am gawping at these prices because there are some really nice frames, like these funky ones from Lulu Guinness*.
However, it’s worth noting that you have to pay extra for tints, scratch-resistance coating and things of that nature.
Some of it is optional but you’ll probably end up paying around £50 to £100 all in.
If you only do one thing…
If you’re planning to do some bargain hunting ahead of Christmas or during Black Friday sales, now is your time to start planning.
Some retailers, like Boots*, have already started their discounting ahead of the festive season.
But more generally, it’s a great time to make a list of things you want to buy and to check the prices now so you can double check, come sale season, whether you’re getting a good deal.
My favourite feature for sleuthing out a bargain?
Well, if you’re buying something on Amazon*, find the Rufus AI button on which ever item you’re planning to buy and then ask this: “when was this item the cheapest in the last 12 months”.
Not only will it tell you what period you’re most likely to score a deal but it’ll also tell you the historical lowest price for the last 12 months.
