What to read right now…
There are 15.3 million people at risk of retirement poverty in the UK because even though pensions savings have gone up, they haven’t kept pace with the cost of living.
It’s a good time to resurface this recent piece on how much money you need to retire.
And also why I don’t pay as much into my pension as I could.
Meanwhile, there are lots of new and innovative mortgage products on the market right now, like a delayed start mortgage, where you don’t have to make payments for the first three months.
The no deposit mortgage has made a return as well – but you can’t get it if you want to buy a new build home or a flat.
The deal that’s a steal…

This deal is a little different from usual.
Wowcher is known for their £99 mystery holidays* but they also do lucky dip-style deals for electronics.
One of the best deals I’ve spotted is for Chromebooks, which are basic laptops designed for web-based tasks – think writing, doing emails, surfing the internet etc.
I’ve had a Lenovo one since 2019 and love it because it’s lightweight, has a seriously long battery life and can be used offline.
Wowcher’s Chromebook deal* lets you buy one from just £49, plus postage and packaging. The catch is you don’t know which one you’re getting.
The most basic options include Acer C730, Acer C731, Acer C740, and the Lenovo 11E Thinkpad, but you can also pick up more expensive models.
These are not new models though, and Chromebooks have Automatic Update Expiry (AUE) dates of 10 years from their release.
After the AUE, your Chromebook will stop receiving system updates. You can still use the laptop, but it may become buggy and less secure over time.
And an actual freebie…
Did you know Charlotte Tilbury offers free mini facials at its make up counters across the country?
They’re only 15 minutes long, but you get to test out a couple of products as part of the experience.
All you have to do is find your nearest store and book an appointment.
They also do paid appointments if you want to do a longer experience.
If you only do one thing…
The Bank of England has dropped its Bank Rate again, this time to 4.25%.
Lots of high street banks have already followed suit by dropping their interest rates on savings accounts, which of course means it’s time to do a savings review.
Here’s my pick of the best savings accounts.
