What to read right now…

New York and Singapore are tied as the most expensive cities to live in this year.

A fixed-price shopping basket offers an interesting solution to the cost of living crisis and is, I think, potentially more workable than universal basic income.

Flexible working might become a legal right for employees – but it sounds like there are quite a few hurdles to overcome if you actually want to make a request.

The insulation you’re using to cut energy costs could drive down your property value.

The deal that’s a steal…

Now is the perfect time to shop for advent calendars.

Lots of retailers are offering discounts on unsold advent calendars now that the countdown has well and truly started.

Beauty ones are particularly worth snapping up given the products don’t lose value, and they have a longer shelf life.

The Selfridges beauty advent calendar* for example was selling for £210, and contains 25 products worth more than £800. Right now it’s retailing at £105.

Or the Acqua di Parma one* – it’s now £225 instead of £450.

Do shop around though as lots of calendars haven’t been discounted for the very reason that they’re non-perishable.

And an actual freebie…

There are lots of places where you can charge your electric car for free, which quite frankly sounds too good to be true.

But apparently it’s not – and there’s a map that you can use to find them all.

Head to Zap Map, apply your filters (including the free to use one), and off you go.

If you only do one thing…
