What to read right now…

Trying to entertain kids this summer? This analysis of whether family passes actually save you money might be interesting.

On a different note, Ofcom has banned mid-contract price rises linked to inflation. Sadly this does not mean no price rises.

Instead of increasing prices based on inflation each year, mobile phone and broadband providers have to give a specific number in pounds and pence when you sign up.

The good news is that you’ll know exactly what you’re paying for the duration of your contract. I personally think it might cause the price rises to inflate more so providers can cover their costs.

On a different note, people have started saving instead of spending.

And finally, as we’re now in Olympic season, here’s something on the economics of hosting an Olympics.

The deal that’s a steal…

If you hate flossing – and let’s face it, who doesn’t – then a water flosser might be the solution.

These basically pump water and sometimes air in between your teeth to eject any food debris that you’ve missed through brushing.

I tested a bunch for work in the past and they really do work. They’re particularly good if you have braces or bonded retainers.

Anyway, Superdrug currently have the Waterpik WP450 Cordless Plus water flosser* for £30.00 instead of the usual £59.99, saving you around 50%.

Waterpik is the leading brand in water flossers.

I haven’t tried these ones before but I have to say there isn’t a whole lot of difference between brands that I have tested in terms of effectiveness.

What is different is the programs they offer and therefore how gentle or harsh they are on your gums.

And an actual freebie…

This is pretty cool – the Getty Museum in Los Angeles is giving away free art.

Not the actual art you understand, but digital prints that you can download and do whatever you like with.

There are around 88,000 downloadable works that are in the public domain, with no copyright restrictions.

All you have to do is go on their website and look for open content in their collection.

They have a great Reel on their Instagram that explains how this works.

If you only do one thing…

Brush up on your air passenger rights knowledge if you’re flying this summer.

Last week’s global IT outage showed just how important it is to know what to do if something unexpected happens.

I’m talking about what happens when your flight gets delayed and what happens when your flight gets cancelled.

You won’t get compensation every time but you should get a basic level of duty of care.
